Lola Alao had before now, been enmeshed in a custody battle with the family of Aisha Abimbola’s estranged husband, Victor Ibrahim. Shortly the actress died of cancer on Tuesday, May 15, 2018, the Canadian authority had invited family members via a letter directly addressed to the father of the kids who’s in Nigeria. The letter requested Victor’s consent in granting the children’s custody to Lola Alao, who has been acting as their guardian. However, he refused to give consent even though he hasn’t been fraternizing with the kids. This led to tension between the late actress’ family and now Canada-based Lola Alao over who takes custody of the kids.

However subsequent investigations made after the actress’ death, revealed that she never wanted her husband to take custody of the kids. Thus actress Lola Alao was considered as the next-of-kin to late Aisha when she was dying, as she was also the only one taking responsibility of the ailing actress.
